Mary Chambers
Mary Chambers grew up in Australia and England, and has also lived and worked in Italy, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Kuwait. While doing research for her PhD in Linguistics in the Solomon Islands, a massive earthquake and tsunami devastated the island where she was working. She wrote a thesis, had a baby and moved to Kuwait before writing her first novel, The Shaken Sea, inspired by the earthquake and subsequent events.
Now living in Reading, Mary is a work-at-home mum with a freelance proofreading and copyediting business. In her spare time she sings in Chorate Chamber Choir and likes to paint pictures with her daughter. She is currently working on a second novel, based on the true story of an Australian aboriginal boy who was brought to Reading in the 1850s. Represented by: Sandra Sawicka |
