Jimi Famurewa

Jimi is a freelance writer, editor, podcaster, and occasional TV personality. He is the Chief Restaurant Critic for the Evening Standard, co-hosts Waitrose's Life on a Plate podcast, and often appears on Masterchef as a guest critic, among other shows.

As a journalist, he has written for The Guardian, Empire, Wired, ShortList, Grazia and Time Out, covering subjects as varied as diversity in blockbuster films, Swedish stay-at-home fathers, the cultural significance of London’s black barbershops and the bitter battle to dominate the holographic concert industry. He has interviewed celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Liam Gallagher, Nigella Lawson and John Boyega.

In 2017, his story, Teddybird, made the shortlist of the Guardian and 4th Estate’s BAME Short Story Prize. He lives in south-east London with his wife, their two sons and an uncommonly needy cat called Tango.
